Thank You Marlin Perkins!
Just a little tale from the wild here in Arizona. I was going to my usual spot up at Catalina State Park outside of Tucson. As I was driving in I spotted a couple of deer and further down the road saw a blue fox, yes they just arent red. I was still getting used to a new camera setup and seeing it was warm I was going to go until my battery died. It was a good night. I learned a lot about my set up and all the peripherals. All night long I was serenaded by the local wildlife. The crickets, the frogs, the owls. At about 4am I noticed I had enough juice for one more shot and I was slewing to it and all of a sudden I didnt hear the nature sounds anymore. I thought, "this is odd" but kept at what I was doing. I quickly found out where all the noises went. Im just about to take my picture when I heard this screaming noise. I had watched enough Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom in my youth to realise what I heard was a mountain lion cub crying for its momma. Now I knew about where baby mountain lion was, I knew where I was, what i didnt know was where momma mountain lion was. According to Marlin Perkins you dont get between a momma and her cub. I wasnt about to disobey a man who got his butt kicked by an anaconda and survived. So I packed up my rig and called it a night. I discovered that night where I was in the scheme of things. I discovered I wasnt at the top of the food chain outside a McDonalds and I discovered a man with a purpose can tear down a telescope rig in about 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Peace,
Scott
