The Last Blog

I've now come of age in Astronomy..

This will be my last blog..Never was a blogger...I just done these for informational purposes

From April 2008 me not even knowing where Orion was in space,or anything at all about telescopes beside there a Magnifier,an   nothing at all about Camera's less pointing on an shooting one..

I'm now an 1000 times more informed

First,  My Scope,( I've named Terminator 09')

An Nexstar8SE's Optical Tube..(Nexstar8SE mount won't do deep-space photography), Placed on CGEM EQ mount.. Additions are 80mm PHD   guide scope package an CanonT1i with 2' nose piece adaptor

   Second,  the Accessories

From top Left going down Canon Blub (for extended time photography) The CanonT1i itself,  EP Projection Kit (1 1/4 lens pop inside it) ,  Prime focus or with a reducer adaptors for EOS camera, 2 different filter wheels with 4 2" filters each, one with LRGB, other with OIII,Narrow,Broad,an HA filters, Behind it all is the Celestron 1 1/4 eyepiece kit.. Inside the case is also my x2 Barlow an Neximager CDD camera as well as about 10 different 1 1/4 filters

  Third,  My Location

Just set-up in my backyard..In Orlando,FL,USA..I have limited view on Southern idem's due to Tree's, I can't shoot anything to the     east because light pollution from Universal Studio's, Anything to my north has Down Town Orlando's Pollution in it,  So about all i get is   straight up an going West but i deal with what i have I can go mobile, just haven't the urge yet

This my Nemesis all year around an worse onholidays an weekends...

Whats not seen in this Photo in the Swirlling ones...about 8-10 others swirlling around covering the whole sky

    Forth,  Devotion

It takes a lot of devotion to learn something totally new to you...Above is my "Telescope Circle"..heh (those are knee prints above 40 degree ground) My telescope pads have been in the same location for months Only move them if i Mow

What?!?!  a Rain cloud is coming?!?!?  Quick De-Electronicize the Scope an Cover It !!!

If that ever happins to you like it did me one night.. I found one Hefty Draw String bag will cover the whole scope an it will lockdown with the pull strings around the bottom accessory tray bolt..I just pull the GPS,HC off

Fifth , Is Photo Processing Programs

I use Registax5 an Deep Space Stacker to stack an align photo's

Then Gimp2 for it's Filters an Deeph Merging

an last Nebulosity2 for back ground an object color

Each these program takes months to learn,I suggest  when starting out use the Max direction of each slider available to gain there full potential an know there possiablity's,You'll soon find the perfect middle ground for your sky's,camera type  an type of object you've captured

   Now on to Februarys Photo's..!!!

Mars!!! EP projection,9mm lens,No Barlow,20 second movie capture T1i,Registax5 edited an enlarged

Saturn !!  Shot same way as Mars above,...a little tricker because you won't see it in the live-viewer this magnified, But it's there if you press the blub "snap photo" button, you'll have to turn up the ampature

This above is Comet Sliding Spring, currently visible as mag 10

Comet Wild 81p,mag 9.5,current just east of Spica

 M92 Star Cluster

  M13 Hercules Global Star Cluster

An the Big One,,,,Omega Centerie !!!..don't know if it cause it was only 14* above the horizon due south the reason it's redish, or  that's how it really is,,looked this way by eye to..

     M99 Galaxy

    M101 Galaxy

  M51 Whirlpool Galaxy

   M81 Bode Galaxy

 NGC4565 The Needle Galaxy

This Below is my first Asteroid Capture,Asteroid 2 Vesta, one the biggest in the Asteroid Belt

I took 12 min long exposers at ISO100,6 tottal,  Vesta was so bright i could lock in it itself with Guider

How you choose to view space is all up to you!! Theres so many ways to do it...

You can go all out  or just simplie do the eyeball visual sessions with 20 dollar scope..Me, I was after Galaxy's an now i have Them.

My suggestions for perfect frames are:

  Clean Optics including the Camera's

Perfect as you can get Scope Collmentation  (your mirrors are aligned best as can be)

Live-View at x10 focus before shutter time on your Camera (find a dim star before your object you plan to capture)

Every 10 degree's drop or rise  in outside tempeture, Re-focus..

To focus, Twist the focus knob back an forth rather fast to gain the "Sweet Spot",then fine tune the Clearity in that Spot

From all that above i then just hit the Bulb's Start Button..The whole set-up system Takes it from there for how ever Long i like

Took time to get the point i'm at now...

Even the scope company's are coming out with my set-up now...heh... It's great set-up, with set-it-an-forget-it capibilty's...Only draw backs moving it all around..I won't get an observeritory because of my sky's but i do have a old 8' satellite dish pole in my backyard that might use as a pier mount soon, time'll tell..

  Keep looking Up...

I'll be, when ever i have clear sky's!!...Enjoy!!

Night of the Reducer!!!

Well ,long time no blog, so i thought i'd spit one out..

Weathers this Winter's been ridiculous in Orlando,FL..70's one week,50's the next with night lows under freezing..

If a storm passes now, after it, a huge Arctic blast from the North blows in..The Bonus is Clear Sky's!!! with added bonus of Surperb Atmospherics!!!

All these Photo's below i took 1-10-09 starting at 8pm ending at 5am the 11th...

Started on the  M33 Pinwheel Galaxy..

This was 2 an 1/2 hour exposer in total,3min subs,,,ISO800xfox6.3 reducer,8SE,CGEM,80mm guide using one LPS-2 pollution filter

Next, due to my backyard lay-out an where i set-up for view of Polaris. Next was Horsehead Nebula before huge tree to the south eats it ...I got it but not upload worthy,i Like my Dark Matter Dark..

Then shot over to the X-mas tree cluster..That To is another i'll be working on..The Cone Nebula is hard to capture in my area

After some on-line Astrophoto searching. i Found IC405 Flamming star nebula..Again..Faint for my sky's, but did get some on film

Now it's about 1am...It's in the 30's outside,The Sky's are freezen clear..heh..(less Universals search lights spinning around)

I'm on 8SE tube with 6.3 reducer,CanonT1i prime focus with LPS-2 pollution filter with 80mm PHD guiding...

Time for under mag 7 Star Groups an Clusters

Hold on to your eyeballs....

M35 above         m36         m37          m38            m44 Beehive star group           m67 King Cobra Cluster         M53 Global star cluster           M3 Global Cluster

All these above where Single Frame, 3 minute ISO800 exposures less the Global Cluster,Those i took 4-6 frame each, still LPS-2 filtered

   Its Now roughly 2am...

I start searching my star chart program an see some Galaxy's coming into view from the East..

The East is bad news for me, i actualy have to shoot Over Universal Studios Lights

I look some more,,an i see More an More of them, I was about to pack in to a start the processing game..but could resist...8^)

First i found was the M64 Blackeye Galaxy..

last year i only caught a wink of this...

not this year..Can't wait till all these Galaxy's come closer...Then i'm loosen the 6.3 reducer for close ups!!

Next on the chart...           M63 Sunflower Galaxy...           M106 Galaxy..

Next i hit the M104 Sombrero..I caught it ok, like the ones above, but it Defiantly can use more magnification... So'll i''ll work in it more at a later time...

I Saved my best for last...

The M51 Whirlpool Galaxy!!!

my first time capturing it too..

i was ecstatic!!!

All these done with 6.3 reducer on 8se tube on CGEM mount one Pollution filter..no more then 6 frames each at 3 min per

Better sky's,larger ampatuer's can improve A lot but i'm content....

I can Catch Galaxy's with a 8" scope in the City of Orlando!!!

All above captured 1-10-10 to 1-11-10 in one Outing, in Orlando,FL,USA

   Enjoy!! an Clear Skys!!

The Calm before the Storm..

As the Moon subsides, all the telescopes are coming back out an i have Hurricane Ida in route..8^(..

But before my sky's go cloudy for week i took Terminater09' out in the back yard an went to work...

Couple nights before the weather was iffy,so i had just brought out the Nexstar8SE for moon an planet shots between the clouds.I caught Nov.1.09  full moon in 15 seconds!! in to only time it left the clouds for 30 seconds!!  All Night!!

Earlier in the mornings i had caught Mars...It ,at unbelievable magnification, moved All over the place.i got it on film but you can tell i'm out of my scopes useful magnification..

Friday,Nov.6-7th 09 i had Clear sky's ...Good enough to bring out Terminater09' for some Astrophototagraphy!!

  It 8pm...

This below was a "First shot" after the set-up(carry-out,set-up,align,attach cams an cords etc etc),single frame(the rest had tree in it)220sec 1600iso f0 T1i shot...

The M11 Wild Duck Star Cluster

Next.. i went to the M103 Star Cluster, was very colorful to just the eye alone..

This one below was super dense,There stars everywhere!!

The NGC789 Star group

   This one i've hit with the G10 last year,..This Time with T1i,prime focus,8SE tube,CGEM..

The NGC457 E.T. Star Cluster...

It now 9pm est..Was amazed i  captured 4 star clusters in just an hour..8^)...

This below, i Captured the 7th ,Saturday night ,while Galaxy hunting..The Double Cluster..

Now the Moons was starting to rize out of the East...

Above is the Moon,Jet passing an under it all is "Terminator09'"  L.E.D.S...

This was neat view of the Moon,The shot is in Focus, just the clouds are moving...

While the Cloud patch blew threw, there moving pretty fast due to Ida in the gulf, i went back in the house for bit...

When i came back out ,i started checking objects again on starry nights pro..I heard a russle of bushes!!!

I grabbed the flash light,stood-up an began searching the area where the noise came from..

It wasn't just a light brush of a bush, sounded pretty heavy..

I own a Cat,she's black an weighs about 11lbs now. Some times she get's out an cruises the backyard

I'm standing up,i run the flashlight down my back wall an Holy Moly!!!

Somethings Looking Dead at Me!!!

In this photo above you can see A-Whole lot more then i could that night beings it's  past midnight.. when i previewed this shot in the back the camera i saw nothing but Red Eye's eyeing me..

I turned around an took a shot of my pool area...

    OK...It's not my cat..

Time for close-up an hope i don't get Attacked!!!

I climbed up on my stored Tahoe in the backyard under a cover an snapped away...

One Opposum !!!..my first spotlight of'm made him Play Dead...lol..He's playing dead mid-fence-climb..heh

In this close-up you can see his/her Blue an Red different colored ears...

Even stranger his Eye's where Blue an Red Too..but opposite of his ears..It was Aleast 4 feet long including the tail!!!

It finaily left one my trips in the house for drink..

I went back to Scoping, the clouds had cleared...for now..

Below is a Super Processed Moon Shot..

only took 15 seconds to capture in HD, but took 2 an 1/2 Hours!!! of processing to complete...

If you light a lighter or match below your view of it..the heat vapor from the heat makes this shot come alive!!

Now Mars is above the Palm tree...

Off with the T1i, on with the G10,25X7mm zoom lens an x2 barlow..

I'm out of useful magnification in this shot along with slight dew an one my culmination screws could use 1/3 turn i can tell, so this is a project in works..

There special Mars filters out i've seen as well..

This is as close as you get with 8"

   It's Saturday night,

These are my next interest....Galaxy's...

I'm in Orlando,FL so there a real challenge!!...

these below are just single frame shots ,2minx1600, to get me formularized with there size an locations at prime focus

   NGC253 Sculpture galaxy

M31 The core of the Andromeda galaxy

NGC6946 galaxy..(have to look hard, but it's in the lower mid part this frame below)

Last is the M74 Phantom Galaxy...it's a ghost alright!!

Like i said before, these galaxys above where just 2 min iso1600 single frame photos with a moon out..

More to come with darksky's an no clouds!!

I'll be likely unable to scope for week or more now till Hurricane Ida passes..But i got my fill in for now..Enjoy!!

A Full Moon Sun Burn..

Since the Full Moons out, an deep space searching limited,I decided to spur of the moment ,take in a Air Show!!                                                 7am Saturday Morning, in Route from Orlando to Cocoa Beach!!

I had my Online tickets printed out an wanted to arrive early to scout it all out..   Got there, met a friend that stayed the night before,an decided ,Heck, I'll just get a room to an hit the show twice..The F-22 raptor wasn't scheduled till Sunday anyway..   10am,Oct,3rd,09..I'm on the Beach!! chairs all set-out,beach blanket laid-out,cooler behind us...I just start to relax an sit down when i see "Fins" in the water!!!!..i look real close, i think dolphin or baby killer whale(looked blackish in skin color),  i had to go see..

Yeap,Dolphins...One was surfing the waves as they came in,i was 10 feet away!!, Was Cool as All Get-Out!!..Bad thing..I had my cell phone in my shorts pocket I'd Totally forgot about while wading out to my belly button to caputer the dolphins...8^(   Oh well ,No interruptions for the weekend..heh

The back of my head with the T1I modified with uv filter on 25-55 is/af lens

Everyone else plus some!!! With the G10 with added zoom attachment

Cocoa Beaches Sand!!

I had couple like this, even more shots/video's with the lens cap still on...lol..was trying to be very protective of my Astrophototagraphy cameras!!!

If you didn't have any foot protection, You walked on this sand 20 seconds, An That's It!! Ouch hot hot hot!!!

   Thank's for Night Fall.....

When the Harvest Moon came up over the Ocean it was Intense an Huge!!..I wanted my scope!!!

My keen eye at night caught the Golden Knights night jump at 7;30 pm,10-3-09..(the 4 bright lights in the sky)

After all was said, seen an done...i was Totally SunBurt..worst was my ankles an calves..My nose turned out ok because it was pressed against the back of a camera the whole time though!!!  8^)

               Enjoy!!

L.E.D  Astrophotography!!

The Walls i had are now Broken Threw!!

First... my nature shot of the Blog.. I've been after this little joker for months..

One Bat!!..my early eve,pre dawn Mosquito Hunter!!..(i'm have to find out if my G10 repair was done in a clean room,  8^/  )

   The walls broken...

The Iron wall Computer issue is fixed..not totally resolved but at-least is functional for now

The Brick wall mount shakes an Atl-Az movement in frames is fixed...mounted my 8" se tube to a Celestron CGEM mount

This is my set-up currently (it changes weekly lately an will again in week with the "New Stuff" in route)    The CGEM mount,8se tube,80mm guide scope an guide cam, piggy mounts on with red-dot laser on other side,Lap-top HC connected with a star chart program an to use the guide scope...the homemade dolly's been holding up great in the background.is bout time i bought real dew tubes...heh..i haven't yet but if i plan on exposures after 3am, Scope/Lens heaters are must..lol..(in my first blog i said the to ritzy)

This is cool to come out the house an look at in the backyard at night...Mass Machinery with L.E.D.'s all over them..

After buying a Brand New lap-top..my ole ones is a 1.89 meg upgraded/modified ,6 year ole ,$600 HP with XP..

My new ones a 2.1meg duel processor IBM with  vista 64..I fired it up,transferred files, updated, secured it..

Went to upload the guide cams software an Access Denied!!!....i spend 5 hours hunting why not..I'm now fully Vista Proficient...lol ..this is what i got as the error..(please excuse the brand)

I was on a 64 bit machine...I contacted the "Vendor" of the cam,  There's a patch coming out in Oct09'...8^/

I have purchased already a Computer-Less!!  guide package..It sure better operate better then this package or this clown going for his bowling pins...hehehe

Now on to the Photo's  ..Some are Finals.( all these where took in the last 2 days).. i won't try an expose again till next year these M27,M57,M13

 This the M-13 Hercules Cluster...

  The M-93 star cluster...

 The M-15 Global Cluster

  The Double Star Cluster..

   The M-57 Ring Nebula

    The M-27 Dumbell Nebula...

This the M-16 Eagle Nebula..(aka Pillars of Creation)This was my Favorite photo from Hubble Space Telescope i saw couple years back..Now I've Photo'd it Myself from my backyard with carried out equip. in Orlando,FL with just 8" glass  over the Hubble's Huge Mirror

Here's the M-42 Orion nebula early in the am..Question...,the Star Glaze will be solved with lens heaters??  I was T1i,to adaptor screwed to 6.3 reducer on 8se tube with dew shield..i own a heat gun from my business, i've used it but can't find where this glare's coming from, it's only in the am hours, so as to be dew somewhere

It only creeps in on the edges with a reducer it seems..

Here's where i started out year an half ago,...Basic ole star's..but WOW if you have good camera equip..(i started out with cheap sony cyber-shot universally mounted,2.1 meg i think)

 Rigel...

One my Favorite named stars to have to Nexremote software say...("Beatlejuice")

     Betelgeuse

I'd shot Procyon to, but in editing it went to the wrong spot an got deleted...heh..opps..

It's now about 6am..The Dew's Insane,  i'm getting over running round with blowdryer (heatgun)..There's clouds coming from the East..But i can't resist...I want Mars!!!

I go in the house, grab the G10 hook it up to the Contest 8se tube with lights on in the room...  I put it on a 25x7mm baader zoom lens accompanied with Celestrons x2 barlow,I algin it all up, it being universaly mounted then unscrewed it from the 8se tube an headed back out..

I pull off the T1i/6.3 reducer an attach the "Monster Tower of Power" i call it an locate Mars...in short i went from Full  Un-Zoom  to full Zoom in 5 minutes or less...8^)

     Mars...!!

(theres special Mars filters on the web i saw as well as a x5 barlow...hmmm..heh)

An that's it for this blog, the Walls are Broken, i can Expose All night...lol..Photo's People!!

  In Route next's... Filter wheels,Filters,GPS unit,Power pack,Comp-less Guider...(Hint,Hint...I'm getting Mobile!!! No more light polluted shots)..last i guess will be the Scope/Lens heaters...Dew's Bad...Enjoy!! an Clear Sky's!!!
