A newbie today with a question. I am looking to buy the Celestron CGE 1400 Pro Faststar 14-inch this Fall and see two different models of it as well as $3,000 difference. Is it the new mounting ?

Also, this REAL owners of the 1400, give me your REAL positives as well as negatives of this telescope.

Hiya Starman,Bozo here in Orlando,..the $3000 differance is the opptions on both, ones faststar compatiable, others not..you'll have to read -up on that feature a see if you want it or not...my 8se was just $1200...i don't own a 14" (yet)  but from what all i seen that comes from one...That's the scope to have...only problems i've heard are clutch issues so far..yes it's big, an exspensive,an would be a monster to move around, but the the bigger the better for space viewing...8^)..i seen one bigger,a 16"..it's $52,000 by a differant company..Enjoy!! hope your out viewing soon..

The two CGE Pro 1400 scopes differ by about $1000 in cost.

The difference is that one (11089) is equipped with a cell to take the HyperStar or Fastar lens for f/2 imaging, the other (11088) is not.
