In late 2007 Comet Holmes, until then an obscure fuzzball, suddenly became one of the brightest naked-eye comets in recent memory. This photo, taken on November 10th, shows the head of the outbursting comet resembling a horseshoe crab as it sailed through a star field in Perseus.
