I was on the cruise ship Paul Gauguin in the South Pacific for the July 22, 2009, total eclipse of the Sun. We had to dodge clouds, but we saw all of totality, which lasted 3 minutes 24 seconds at our location. At the end of totality, when the first glint of bright sunlight burst forth, the clouds lit up to create this stunning scene.
